Club Meeting 28th May 2026
We started with a summary and small discussion about our annual exhibition, with some useful ideas, suggestions and feedback.
Focus Stacking
Tony Bamford presented an excellent topic on focus stacking and how to present photographs that have a much deeper Depth of Field, most noticeably with macro photography, but also how it can be used through all genres of photos including landscape.
Tony gave us a very insightful and interesting presentation regarding the science behind the need to focus stack and the practical aspects of the processes required, both in camera and by manual means.
Included in the talk was a comparison of some of the different software that is available to be used for processing stacked images, and in particular the pros and cons of using Photoshop® versus Helicon® (see comparison images below), there was also some discussion regarding other free options available and one called "Shine Stacker” is thought to be worthwhile.
One Month, One Image - April
Following the break, we reviewed club member’s photographs for the “One Month, One Image” challenge for April.
Photo Challenge, the Letter “V”
To finish off our evening, we reviewed the photo challenge for the letter “V”, which provided a varied array of interpretation for one of the more difficult letters of the alphabet.
