Club Meeting 8th Oct 2026

For tonight's meeting we had an interesting insight into both the difficulties and excitement of capturing photographs of otters on Shetland. Lesley Cadger presented images from her trip last year to these most northerly Scottish islands. Her photographs not only showed the lovely family of otters that she was able to track with the help of a local guide, but also a flavour of this colourful and interesting location.

Following the break, Craig made use of the "bite size review" slot, to demonstrate his newly acquired gadget a "Platypod".

This plate can be used to attach camera and multiple secondary arms to extend lighting and clamps for ground level photography, in particular, Craig is hoping to use this to good effect for fungi photographs this season. It certainly looked a useful tool and we look forward to seeing the results.

We then had a review of club submitted images with the challenges being "one month one Image - September", and the letter "W".

As usual we had a varied and eclectic mix of images. I particularly liked Tony's Cornish tin mine image and Lesley's milky way over Avebury.

The letter W produced some very atmospheric images, from whirlpools to shipwreck and many other imaginative photographs for this challenge. We are almost at the end of the alphabet, I'm looking forward to seeing what the last three letters will bring, it may be quite a challenge indeed!
